Overview
Open Space Yoga opened in April 2003 on Delta Street in the heart of Ladner Village. The studio has been warmly received by the local community and has been voted Best Fitness Facility in Ladner for nine consecutive years in the Delta Optimist Readers Choice Awards. The space is committed to being environmentally responsible and acknowledges the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Tsawwassen and Musqueam First Nations, along with all Coast Salish Peoples.
The studio operates on a philosophy that yoga is for everyone, aiming to provide a safe, non-intimidating, and mindful environment regardless of age, size, gender, race, or athletic ability. The approach is non-competitive, honoring each individual’s path to health, self-discovery, and well-being.
Classes and Services
The class schedule includes a wide variety of offerings. Styles include Vinyasa, Yin, Hatha, Flow, Slow Flow, Restorative, and Restorative Yin. Specialized classes such as Core Yoga, Fascia & Flow, Somatic Awareness, Stretch & Flow, and Yoga Sculpt are also available. Pilates and sound baths round out the studio’s diverse programming. Many classes use props like bolsters, blocks, blankets, cushions, and weights to support practice.
Class levels range from beginner-friendly to those encouraging prior experience. Several classes require no previous yoga background, while others, like Flow Yoga, recommend some experience. The studio also offers an 8-week beginner’s course, which has been well received by newcomers.
Visitor Experience
The studio is described by regulars as a warm, unpretentious space with a strong sense of community. Instructors are noted for being knowledgeable, respectful, and professional while also making everyone feel relaxed and welcome. The atmosphere encourages laughter and a lighthearted approach alongside serious practice.
Pricing options include drop-ins, class passes (5- or 10-class), and unlimited memberships ranging from two weeks to one year. A monthly All-Access Membership is available, with a price adjustment to $129 effective November 2025 for existing members. A student pass is offered in-studio with proof of enrolment. Safety protocols have been praised, including during the pandemic, when the studio offered live virtual classes in addition to in-person sessions.
