Overview
The Collective STL is a yoga studio in St. Louis founded in 2017 with a clear mission: to improve the health and well-being of Black communities. The studio unapologetically affirms Black lives by creating a sacred space for breathing, movement, rest, and healing. Through culturally aware, trauma-informed programming, the studio has supported thousands of St. Louisans and others with mental wellness. Visitors are welcomed to begin or extend their yoga practice, explore the space, and become part of the community.
Classes and Services
The studio offers a variety of classes designed for all people and all levels. The signature class is fun, engaging, and challenging, with fluid transitions linking body, breath, and movement. NeoSoul Yoga is a slow flow accompanied by a live band, creating a unique experience. A vigorous vinyasa flow in a heated room blends balance, strength, and flexibility, with experience recommended but not required. A gentle-flow class emphasizes that yoga is for every body, requiring only intentional breathing. High-energy vinyasa sequences are taught with instructor-curated Hip Hop playlists, and another vinyasa class links each breath with movement throughout the sequence.
Visitor Experience
Reviews highlight a superb experience, particularly at NeoSoul Sunday with instructor Andrea. The live band sets a positive tone, and instructors are described as sweet, welcoming, and helpful, making the space feel safe. The Collective is noted as a healing space with warm spirits and positive vibrations. Attendees appreciate the community, which focuses on restoration, relaxation, and relationship building. The studio hosts pop-up events and supports families and children. Classes may feel full at times, but the vibe is described as competitive-free and communal. The studio also offers yoga under the Arch in the fall, and all levels are welcome.
